Breakaway Daily Exclusive Interview with Blake McGrath

in Arts/Interviews

I had the opportunity to catch Blake McGrath while he was in my neck of the woods on his way to the first stop of the So You Think You Can Dance Canada auditions. On the show Blake serves as a judge, choreographer, and mentor. Blake was nice enough to take some time away from his busy busy schedule to talk to me about his debut album Time to Move where he co-wrote almost every song and enjoyed the creative process of putting it together. The Night, a song that tells the listener to be free of his/her inhibitions was the albums first single, and has since been followed by equally catchy club pounding dance anthems, as well as sweet ballads.

Known as one of the worlds best dancers, the multi talented Blake McGrath has shared the stage with legendary artists including Madonna, Janet Jackson, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce, Mariah Carey and more! From center stage to the silver screen, his cinematic credits range from the Academy Award-winning film Chicago to the Pulitzer and Tony Award winning adaptation of the musical Rent. Blake’s star appeal has cast him in the commercial spotlight where he has appeared in ads for globally esteemed brands among Pepsi, Gap, Old Navy, Hummer and iPod. Blake’s artistic vision is shown through his music, which show a mesmerizing display of his amazing talent both as a dancer and musician. His videos are a feast for the eyes and also include cameo appearances from some of the best dancing talents in the world. Blake’s star has only began to rise and with his talents, vision, drive and determination, there is no end to what he will be able to accomplish next.
