DiMarco brings Dancing with the Stars audience to tears with “Sound of Silence” freestyle

Silence has never been so loud. WINNERS Nyle DiMarco and Peta Murgatroyd performed a moving freestyle finale dance to “The Sound Of Silence” by Disturbed.

Nyle said this dance, and his win, was for the 70 MILLION Deaf people in the world.

Only 2% of them have access to education in sign language. Over 75% of parents do not use sign language to communicate with their Deaf child and millions of Deaf children experience language deprivation.

“My interpretation of the song is that for hundred of years my Deaf community has suffered oppression, marginalization, and language deprivation… but now we’re starting to find hope in this new world.” Nyle wrote on his Facebook page.

“It is time for our soundless message to be heard, hence the Sound Of Silence… It is our time.”
