Sarah Michelle Gellar celebrates Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s 19th anniversary!

19 years later Buffy is still a feminist icon that rocks (& kicks butt!). Airing from 1997 to 2003, Buffy the Vampire Slayer (based on the film of the same name) chronicled the high school and college years of Buffy Summers, a girl known as “the chosen one” to fight for humanity against evil supernatural forces. The series inspired a successful spin-off, Angel, and continues through season 10 in comic book form.

Buffy herself, Sarah Michelle Gellar, took to social media today to honor the special day: “19 years ago tonight, I got to introduce you to ‪#‎buffyannesummers‬ (and‪ #‎mrpointy‬ too) thank you for taking the incredible journey with me and continuing still. I am and forever will be ‪#‎grateful‬.” –  Sarah Michelle Gellar

I can’t believe it has been 19 years! Buffy was (and will always be) such a huge part of my life. Back in the days when there was no PVR’s or Netflix, when your favourite show was on you had to rush home in order to catch the episode or you may not see it again! And that is exactly what I always did on nights Buffy aired! Not to mention the figures, life size stand up and even my own Mr. Pointy stake! (Buffy had some seriously awesome merchandise!) Buffy and SMG always be one of my female icons and live forever in my heart. ❤️
