Growing up, Juto was constantly bullied; feeling alienated and helpless. By introducing fitness into his daily life through dance and strength training, he made it through to the other side with his head held high. Through finding his own path in life, he has risen above his challenges while standing out from the crowd.
BREAKAWAY DAILY: Exercise can help prevent and heal the psychological damages of bullying. How did fitness help you on your journey to overcoming bullying?
JUTO: Fitness gave me more confidence. Fitness helps improve my mood, self-esteem and decrease anxiety.

At the age of five he imitated his idol, Michael Jackson, and a couple years later, won a dance competition. The Ethiopia famine threatened the lives of many thousands of Ethiopian citizens. It has been estimated that four hundred thousand to five hundred thousand perished due to the famine in 1983-1985, and millions were made destitute. The Face of Hunger: Reflections on a Famine in Ethiopia by Byron Conner, M.D. is a memoir based on the years spent helping to the Ethiopian people and the lasting effects that followed the author’s family home to the US.
BREAKAWAY DAILY: Tell us about your book The Face of Hunger?
Slim Turkey: The Unsolved Homicide of Richard Aderson is a podcast that focuses on the February 5, 1997 unsolved mystery of Richard Aderson, a school administrator from New York State. On February 5, 1997, Richard was driving home from his office in Montgomery to his home in Lagrange, NY. The drive usually took about forty minutes. Soon after crossing the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge, he and an unidentified male driver had a minor traffic collision, causing both drivers to pull off to I-84’s shoulder. There, the two men were seen arguing by passing motorists.
Kosi Jah is a singer/songwriter from Prosper, Texas who finds “Tha Love” in her insightful debut single. The smooth, R&B track is full of lyrical substance. It addresses how people often get confused about love, and how material love can overtake the true love that has to be shown towards other people.
Her passion for music began at the age of eight, when she used to rehearse Michael Jackson’s “Dapper Dan” and Anita Baker’s “Sweet Love” with her dad in the kitchen. With Kosi Jah meaning child of a king and goddess, you already know what to expect, nothing but majestic sounds!
Ken Ungerecht’s book Divine Principles examines the intersection of spirituality and science. He examines spiritual concepts with scientific principles, and addresses theories about consciousness, conception, reincarnation, and more. We discussed the path that led him to write such an ambitious book.
In his novel, In the Beginning, Jaime Reyes addresses topics of spirituality and religion from the imagined perspective of a Neanderthal tribe. We talked with Reyes about his experiences with religion, his unorthodox journey to becoming a writer, and how he became interested in Neanderthals for the subject of his book.
BREAKAWAY DAILY: Tell us a little about your background.
JAIME REYES: I was born in Puerto Rico and moved to the mainland at age 8. I spoke no English, but at that age learning a new language is not difficult.
The Story of the Sun is a colorfully illustrated book for both children and adults about our relationship with the sun and how it helps us understand who we are. We are so innocent as children, with joy and wonder in our lives. Often as our lives unfold and we grow older, much of that is lost and we forget the truth of our identity and how precious we are. The book has been translated into French (L’Histoire Du Soleil) and will soon be translated into Spanish, making it available to many cultures and backgrounds.
Luka & Jenalyn’s emotionally powerful style of dance is captured in the official music video for James Barker Band’s country cover of “Never Be the Same.” Filmed in one day at ProdStudio in Toronto, the video was directed by Ben Knechtel with video work by Lee Zavitz. Luka & Jenalyn hold nothing back as they use stunts and strong movement to capture the intimate lyrics of the song. They tell the story of someone who has fallen so deeply in love that their life is transformed.
